As a young person, I played competitive junior tennis. As an adult, during my years of education, helping to raise a family, and establishing my career, I unfortunately stepped away from athletics. Several ago, I rediscovered my love for the sport. I really enjoy playing singles and the satisfaction of executing what it takes to win a point in this grueling sport.

However, during my adult journey with tennis, my biggest problem was that my body could not keep up with my expectations. My first problem was my stamina. I could not maintain the intensity required to play at the level I wanted. Unfortunately, traditional “jogging” would hurt my back and knees. It was life changing. My stamina fitness skyrocketed. I started to play more and at a higher level.

My second problem was seemingly unrelenting “weekend warrior” injuries, primarily involving my legs. This was no easy fix! After finally committing to Jacques’ Elite Group Workouts, my lower body strength and power started to catch up to my stamina. This allowed me to engage in even more tennis-specific training, on and off the court, as my body became accustomed to the demands I placed on it.

I recently spent a week playing tennis several hours a day at the Rafa Nadal academy in Spain. This was something I could not have done a year ago. Jacques spent months ahead of time personalizing my workouts to help me reach my goal of an injury-free trip of a lifetime. His ability to listen and encourage, while sharing his wealth of knowledge, is remarkable. He and his coaches make a great team. There is no substitute for hard work, but also no substitute for a great fitness and strength coach.
